Privacy policy
Ezan Vakitleri: Namaz Vakti (prayer times), Android app com.ertunga.namazvakti
Effective date: 27 October 2026. Applies to version 13.0 and later.
This policy explains which data the Ezan Vakitleri app uses, why, and what choices you have. "We" means the Ezan Vakitleri developer, who is the data controller under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (contact: mobdevgenius@gmail.com).
Summary
- No account, no sign-up, no ads. We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.
- Your location is used on your device only, for the Qibla direction and to suggest the nearest district. The app does not send your coordinates to us or to anyone else.
- To download prayer times, only the number of the district you selected is sent to the prayer-times server.
- Usage statistics and crash reports (Google Firebase) are collected only after you accept the privacy agreement on the welcome screen. Firebase is also used for announcement notifications and the check for a new app version.
Location
The location permission is optional and only approximate location is requested; the app never asks for precise or background location. If you granted precise location in a version before 13.0, Android keeps that permission; the app then gets a more accurate location, which is still used on your device only. Location is used only while the app is open, in two places:
- Qibla compass: the Qibla direction, the distance to the Kaaba and the magnetic declination are calculated on your device. Without the permission the compass uses the centre of the selected city.
- "Use my location" (city/district picker): the nearest city and district are suggested; you make the choice. To find the nearest district the app uses Android's geocoding service (Geocoder). This is a service of your phone's operating system and may ask Google about the coordinates; it is not a server of the app. If it gives no result, the nearest province centre is calculated entirely on the device.
The app does not send your coordinates to any server, to the statistics or to crash reports, and does not store them permanently.
Prayer times and city lists
To download the prayer times of the district you selected, the app sends only the district's numeric id to the prayer-times server (api.salahtimes.io). The city and district lists are downloaded from the same server; these requests contain nothing about you. As with any internet request, the server technically sees the connection's IP address. The times are based on data provided by the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Türkiye (Diyanet).
Usage statistics (Firebase Analytics)
After you accept the privacy agreement, the app measures how it is used with Google Firebase Analytics: screens opened, welcome steps, the district selection (the district's numeric id and the province's plate code; city and district names are not sent), whether prayer alerts and reminders played on time, settings changed, the state of the notification and exact-alarm permissions, use of the Qibla compass, dhikr counter, missed-prayer tracker, content read, sharing, the widget and the update dialog. Firebase also records general device information such as device model, Android version, app version, language and an app instance id; Google derives the approximate country or region from the IP address.
No coordinates, city or district names, notification token, name, e-mail or text you type are sent. The advertising id is not collected: the app has no ads, the advertising id permission is declared as in earlier versions but Firebase's advertising id collection is off and all advertising consent settings (Google consent mode ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization) are always denied. Nothing is collected before the agreement is accepted.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
After the agreement is accepted, when the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, Firebase Crashlytics sends a report with the technical details of the error, the device model, Android version, app version, a Crashlytics installation id and a few app states that help us find the cause (current screen, theme, language, permission states, number of alarms set, the district's numeric id and the province's plate code). Crash reports contain no location and no personal content.
Notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
When the app is installed, Firebase Cloud Messaging gives it a registration token so that we can send announcement notifications to all users. The token stays with Google; the app does not send it to us or to anyone else. Prayer alerts and reminders do not need the internet: they are shown by alarms set on your phone. You can turn prayer alerts and reminders off in the app's Settings and all notifications in your phone's system settings.
Version check (Firebase Realtime Database)
When the home screen opens, the app reads only the current and the minimum app version number from Firebase Realtime Database so that it can tell you about an update. Nothing about you is written there.
Data stored on your device
The selected city and district, recent districts, downloaded prayer times and city lists, your alert, reminder, theme and language settings, your missed-prayer counts, your dhikr counts and the fact that you accepted the privacy agreement are stored in the app's storage on your device and are not sent to us. If Android backup is on, this data may be included in the device backup in your Google account. When you uninstall the app (or clear its data in the phone's settings), everything the app stored on the device is deleted.
Versions before 13.0 contained a network analytics SDK (Pinwise). Version 13.0 removes this SDK and deletes the data the SDK stored on the device on the first start after the update.
Google as service provider
Firebase is provided by Google, which processes this data on our behalf under its own terms: Google Privacy Policy and Privacy and Security in Firebase. Google's servers may be located outside Türkiye (for example in the EU and the US), so Firebase data is transferred abroad. Analytics data is kept for the period set in the Firebase project (at most 14 months), crash reports for 90 days. All connections are encrypted (HTTPS).
Legal basis
Usage statistics and crash reports are based on your acceptance of the privacy agreement on the welcome screen (your consent). Downloading prayer times, announcement notifications and the version check are necessary to provide the service you asked for.
Permissions
Below are the permissions the app declares to Android. Declaring a permission does not mean that the app uses it or collects data with it. While running, the app asks for only two permissions: notifications (on the welcome screen) and approximate location (when you open the Qibla compass or tap "Use my location").
Used today:
- Approximate location (optional): Qibla direction and "Use my location", on the device only.
- Precise location: never requested. If you granted it in an earlier version, it gives a more accurate location in the same two places, on the device only.
- Notifications (Android 13 and later): prayer alerts, reminders, the prayer-times bar and announcements.
- Exact alarms: prayer alerts and reminders arrive on time.
- Start at boot, vibration, wake lock, foreground service (media): setting the alarms again after a restart and playing the call to prayer.
- Ask to ignore battery optimisation: only when you tap the battery row in Settings, the system dialog opens so that prayer alerts and reminders are not delayed; you decide.
- Internet and network state, Firebase message receiving, Google Play install referrer: downloading prayer times and Firebase services.
- Advertising id: declared but not used; the advertising id is not collected (see above).
Not used today: Wi-Fi state, phone state, display over other apps, access to storage and audio files, battery statistics. These permissions are kept because earlier versions declared them (removing them would take away permissions users already granted when they update) and are reserved for features that may be added later. The app does not request them and collects no data with them. If one of them starts being used, this policy is updated first.
Children
The app is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights and choices
Under Article 11 of the KVKK and under the GDPR you have the right to learn whether your personal data is processed, to request information and access, to ask for correction or deletion, to object to processing and to withdraw your consent. Send such requests by e-mail to mobdevgenius@gmail.com; you can also complain to a data protection authority (in Türkiye the KVKK Authority).
Because the app has no accounts, we cannot match Firebase data to your name; if you ask for deletion we will help with the means we have. The app has no separate switch for the statistics: to withdraw your consent and stop all data sending, uninstall the app, which also deletes all app data on the device. You can turn off the location and notification permissions in your phone's settings at any time.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update this page and the date above. Important changes are also mentioned in the app's release notes.
